After numerous visits to Nevis and the Golden Rock area in particular, three lifelong friends from Britain decided to forego their traditional hotel visits and build a home, to reflect their own interpretation of what island living should be. After much searching in 1999 they came across the perfect location. Over 3 acres of wild forest on a sugar plantation, with sensational views to the Atlantic Ocean and the neighbouring islands of Antigua, Montserrat and Redonda, were shortly to become 'Sugar Hill'.
The approach to the house is an experience in itself. Up an exciting, mile long road through subtropical mahogany groves where wild monkeys, donkeys and goats abound... Sugar Hill is totally private but not isolated, at an altitude of 1,100 ft with the magnificent Nevis Peak as a backdrop.
The property with its four bedrooms with ensuite baths features the main house on two levels, and two individual cottages ten paces from the house, an element that gives guests a little more privacy. Steps lead down to the L shaped pool through a tunnel of miniature palms. A banana grove - coupled with the occasional mango- and a jade vine that envelops the pool pergola, provide adequate shade.

Comfortably furnished in up to date English country house style with a mix of antique and decorative objects and furniture. Large fully equipped kitchen and eating deck with gas-fired BBQ, laundry with washer and dryer, and a generator for those occasional island power outages. The floors are a mixture of tile and antique pine. All the bedrooms have sea views and all rooms ceiling fans.

10 minutes: Montpelier Plantation Inn, Hermitage Inn, Old Manor Hotel.
18 minutes: Charlestown and shops
20 minutes: Pinney's Beach, Four Seasons Resort Golf Course.
28 minutes: Newcastle airport.
By foot:
3 minutes: Golden Rock Hotel & Restaurant
1 minute: Water Source mountain trail.
Services:
- Rascho, the housekeeper, will come three mornings per week. More by arrangement. She also makes a very good curry.
- Maurice the gardener will happily show you round his creation.
- Pool maintenance twice weekly.
- All cleaning materials, linens and towels are provided.
- First night's dinner and breakfast provisions complementary.
Activities:
Mountain hiking, mountain biking, windsurfing, tennis, golf, sailing, deep-sea fishing, riding, stargazing, snorkeling, historic boat trips and snorkeling.
Meet And Greet And Car Hire:
A taxi will be arranged to meet you at your arrival point and the agent will meet you personally at the house. We advise that rental cars be left at the house for your arrival, and not at the airport. The agent can arrange this.
